Mazda 6, Honda Civic, or Hyundai Santa Fe?
Which car would be best for a 16-year-old's birthday? (Girl, first car)
Used, most likely slightly used

whichever looks the worst on the outside and is the cheapest! she will ding nd dent that car to death so look at the interior of the car and decide from that. i am a valet driver and personaly i am a big fan of the mazda interiors. they are very simple, cool and user friendly. nothing is too hard to do while driving and the backlights are pretty neat.

The Civic would be #1, then the Mazda 6…
The 6 is a pretty quick car, there is a good chance the insurance may be a bit more than the Civic… The Civic is a better car for longevity, but the 6 is more fun of a car.

wow i’m 16, and i just got a mazda 6 as my first car!!!
it’s perfect for a teen driver. it’s very easy to control, and its very fun to drive. it has a low center of gravity, and a properly weighted throttle and steering wheel. plus, i love how the steering wheel is so small.
on a practical note, it has 15.6 cubic feet of cargo room, it’s roomy throughout the cabin, and the plastics used on the dashboard feel very high-quality.
the santa fe is a good car, but it’s not really acceptable for a first car. it’s too big, and a bit of a gas guzzler.
the civic is not fun to drive at all, so therefore any teen would **** it.
i love my mazda so much. it handles like a dream, and i think it has the best front wheel drive chassis on the market to date. if you’re worried about fuel economy, however, don’t go for the v6 like i did. it eats gas like crazy. the other day i drove 85 miles on the highway, and i used up a quarter of a tank.
the 4 cyl is very frugal, however.
either way, i hear that mazda curved the torque band for the 4 cyl, so that torque is delivered constantly throughout the rev range, so it feels like you’re driving a more powerful car than you are.
as a 16 year old who is obsessed with cars (you might have been able to tell lol) and who is a proud owner of a 2004 Mazda 6s, i thoroughly recommend this car to any other teenager, or to anybody in general.

Katherine, I bought a used Mazda 6 in Nebraska last month and saved a lot. I haven’t had any problems yet. I only buy used cars.
