Which used car would you recommend?
We're looking at used cars for our daughter to take to college, with reliability and low costs to maintain our main goals. Which of these two would be best?
2004 Dodge Stratus SE with 48,000 miles for $8000
1998 Honda Civic LX with 53,000 miles for $7500
Not sure if it makes sense to get the nearly 10-year-old Honda over a much newer Stratus or not. Honda is 1 owner, well-maintained at dealer with all records. Stratus is 1 owner as well. Thanks for any information or other suggestions.

the stratus sounds like a really good deal,i have owned one for a while now,and never had any problems from it at all,since that one has all the paper work with it,that would be the best deal,most people that own the dodge stratus,seem to like them,if its half as good as the one we have she,ll be real satisfied with it,5 years on mine with absolutely no problems at all,except regular maintenance on it,that’s pretty hard to beat,good luck on it.

Although the Stratus in newer, Dodge is not known for anywhere near the reliability as Honda. And even though the Honda is nearly 8 years old, 53,000 miles is hardly anything, and it should still be in very good condition mechanically. I believe that both cars would be similar in repair costs if something goes wrong, but the Dodge is likely to have more problems than the Honda. The Stratus might be a little mor fun to drive, but the Honda is by far more reliable.
